Germaine A. (Krokovich) Brunda

Germaine A. Brunda, 75, of Lansford, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 6th at St. Luke’s Miner’s Memorial Hospital in Coaldale.  She was the widow of Stephen Brunda, who passed away in 2011.  Born in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Steblar) Krokovich.   She graduated from Marian High School Class of 1964 and then attended and graduated from the Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in Allentown as a Registered Nurse.   She then worked for many years at the Former Coaldale State General Hospital before retiring.  She was a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley in Summit Hill.  Germaine was active in community affairs and belonged to several organizations such as the Panther Valley Public Library in Lansford, the No. 9 Coal and Mine Museum, and the Nesquehoning and Lansford Historical Societies.  She enjoyed reading,  loved to travel, and will be sorely missed. 

Surviving are cousins Edward M. Gurka of Hershey PA, Bernard Gurka and wife Susan of Mountaintop PA, Daria Ann Kartronas and husband Dimitri of Atlanta GA, and Larisann Steblar Hill of Fernandina Beach FL. 

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, PA, with the Rev. Robert George Officiating.  Interment to follow at Sky-View Memorial Park in Hometown PA.  A calling hour will be held on Saturday preceding Mass from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the church.  Contributions may be made to the Panther Valley Library c/o the Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.nalesnikfh.com.   Services and arrangements have been placed in the care of the Bruce A.
