Joseph R. “Van” Mancuso Sr., 93, formerly of the New Columbus section of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest on Thursday at Manor Care Health Services in Camp Hill Pa. He was the husband of the late Philomena (Rutch) Mancuso, who had died in 2007. Born in Nesquehoning, he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Kathryn (Logan) Mancuso. He was a machine operator for the former Tarkett Flooring in Allentown for many years before retiring. “Van” served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, serving on patrol in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. While residing in New Columbus, he was a member of the New Columbus Fire Company and was also a longtime member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, also in New Columbus.
Surviving is a son Joseph “Manny” Mancuso Jr. and wife Lorraine of Harrisburg, a daughter Kathryn Susko of Calais, Maine, grandchildren Bianca Susko, Joseph and wife Sheryl Mancuso, Dayna and husband Curtis MacEachern, Anthony and wife Kiley Mancuso and great granddaughter Michael Lanna Susko. He was pre-deceased by sisters Lena Convertino, Frances Miller and Marie Gigliotti.
Funeral Services will be private. Interment will be held at Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown, with Military Graveside Services to be conducted.
