Mrs. Gervasia K. "Gerry" McConnon, 88, of 28 West Diaz Ave., Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Dec. 20, in the Blue Mountain Health System's Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of George McConnon, who died in 1988.

She was a sewer in the garment industry, having worked for the former Kai-Jai Pants Co., Nesquehoning.

Born in Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Rose) Troiani.

"Gerry" was very active in community affairs in Nesquehoning for many years. She was president of the New Columbus Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, where she spearheaded the monthly hoagie sales for many years. She was also one the founders of the Nesquehoning Knee-Hi Football Program; was active in the Nesquehoning Little League in her earlier years; was a member of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church Guild, Nesquehoning; and was active in church affairs at her current church, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Nesquehoning.

She also worked for many years as a poll worker on each Election Day.

Surviving are three sons, Eugene, and his wife, Michele, of Hometown, Michael, and his wife, Maryann, of Summit Hill, and Shaun, and his wife, Carre, of Nesquehoning; three daughters, Mary Stavridis of Pringle, Pa., Collen McConnon of Ashley, Pa., and Maureen, wife of Phillip Zuber of Nesquehoning; a brother Frank of Lewistown, Pa.; six grandchildren, Stephanie, Jimmy, Steven, Patrick, Skylare and Jolynn; and three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Cole and Bailey.

She was also preceded in death by a son Patrick; and a brother Milan.

Service: Funeral service 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, Bruce A. Nalesnik Funeral Home, 57 W. Center St., Nesquehoning; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Nesquehoning, with the Rev. Francis P. Schoenauer officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 6-8 o'clock tonight, and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday.
