Kochaba
February 15, 1935 – October 1, 2024
John T. Kochaba, 89, of Camden, Delaware, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday October 1st in Camden. He was the faithful husband of Helen (Bitsko) Kochaba and they had been married for 68 years. Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Michael and Susan Souchock. Following graduation from High School he embarked on a 21 year military career in the United States Air Force and served one tour in the Korea and three tours in Vietnam as an avionics electrician on the F-105 Thunderchief. Upon his discharge in 1973 he then went to work for Scott Paper (now Proctor & Gamble) in Dover, Delaware, as an electrician for another 20 years prior to retiring.
John liked constructing and programming computers in his free time, and enjoyed "hitting the slots" and actually won a BMW Roadster in the early 2000's. He was a very family-oriented caring and giving man who enjoyed his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving in addition to his wife Helen is a son John Kochaba and wife Jodi of Middletown DE and daughter Cheryl A. Metzbower of Chestertown MD, grandchildren Andrew J. Kochaba and wife Chelsea, Ashley Metzbower, Danielle Gay, Luna Kochaba and great grandchildren Andrew J. Kochaba, Bryce Kochaba, John Kochaba and Lyn Lee Kochaba. He was pre-deceased by brothers Edward Kochaba, Michael Kochaba, and Father Myron Kochaba and a sister Margie Kucan.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 7th at 11:00 a.m. from the Bruce A.Nalesnik Funeral Home, 57 West Center St., Nesquehoning PA 18240, followed by a Divine Liturgy at 11:30 a.m. from St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Nesquehoning with the Rev. Vasyl Chepelskyy Officiating. Interment with military honors to follow at St. John's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Summit Hill PA. A calling hour will be held at the Funeral Home from 10-11:00 a.m. on Monday morning. Online condolences may be expressed at www.nalesnikfh.com.
