Obituary

Leon W. Cook, 85, of Nesquehoning, formerly of Tamaqua, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 2, in Nesquehoning.  He was the husband of the late Lucy N. (Nardozzi) Cook, who died in 2013.  Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Howard E. Sr. and Melissa (Bobst) Cook.   A graduate of Tamaqua High School, he then attended Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology  in Lancaster PA, and then began working in the printing department of the Reading Eagle Times Newspaper where he worked for many years prior to his retirement.  He was of the Protestant Faith and was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Tamaqua.  Leon was an active member of his community, serving as a former President of the American Hose Co. in Tamaqua, and when residing in Nesquehoning  was a Past President and Treasurer of the former Nesquehoning Lions Club and former Vice-President of the New Columbus Fire Co. in Nesquehoning.  He enjoyed his daily walks, reading,  his many fishing trips to Canada with his friends and was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Surviving is a son Brian A. Cook and companion Danielle Brown of Lansford, a sister Clara Stapleton of Hometown, a grandson Roderick M. Cook and nieces and nephews.  He was pre-deceased by brothers Howard and Raymond Cook and a sister Mary Ann Thomas.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 9th at 10:30 a.m. from the Bruce A. Nalesnik Funeral Home 57 West Center St., Nesquehoning PA with the Rev. Marjorie Keiter Officiating.  A calling hour will be held on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home.  Interment to follow at Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown PA.  Contributions may be made to: Library of Accessible Media for Pennsylvanians (LAMP), Free Library of Philadelphia, 1500 Spring Garden,  Suite 230, Philadelphia PA 19130, or, mylamp.org/donate/.   Online condolences may be expressed at www.nalesnikfh.com .  Services and arrangements have been placed in the care of the Bruce A.
