Robert C. "Smokey" Hunsicker, 78, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 5th at his residence.  He was the husband of the late Jean (Herman) Hunsicker, who passed away in 1995.  Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Robert O. and Antonina (Alonge) Hunsicker.  He worked as a mechanic for various businesses including Kovatch Corp., and also was owner/operator of the former Smokey's Bar and Grill in Nesquehoning.  He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam as a tank mechanic and was a member of the Lansford American Legion.  He was of the catholic faith and was a former member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in the New Columbus section of Nesquehoning. "Smokey" enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping and working on cars.  He will be sorely missed.

Surviving is longtime companion Patricia Swartz, a son Robert C. Hunsicker Jr. of Nesquehoning, a daughter Lisa J. Rattie and husband John of State College, brothers Richard Hunsicker and wife Anne of Nesquehoning, Michael Hunsicker and wife Mary Theresa of Nesquehoning, sisters Susie Fredericks of Pasadena MD, Linda Burns of Nesquehoning, Theresa Robin and husband Tom of New Ringgold,  sister-in-law Mary Ann Hunsicker of Nesquehoning and a grandson Dylan Macaluso.   He was pre-deceased by a brother William Hunsicker.

Funeral services will be held on Monday December 9th at 11:00 a.m. from the Bruce A. Nalesnik Funeral Home and Cremation Services,  57 West Center St., Nesquehoning PA  18240, with the Rev. Robert George officiating.  Interment with military funeral honors will be held at Sky-View Memorial Park in Hometown PA.  Calling hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday morning from 10:00-11:00 a.m.  Online condolences may be expressed online at www.nalesnikfh.com.
