IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stanley B.
"Duce" Gieniec
August 13, 1949 – October 13, 2025
Stanley B."Duce" Gieniec, Jr., 76, of Lansford, formerly of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 13, 2025 in Lansford. He was the husband of Marnie (Snowich) Gieniec. Born in Coaldale, he is a son of the late Stanley B. Gieniec Sr. and Helen (Kiripolsky) Gieniec. He was raised in Summit Hill with nine siblings in a close, loving family where faith and hard work blended with humor, traditions, and joyous celebrations. He graduated from Panther Valley High School and entered the U.S. Army in 1968, where he attained the rank of SP4 as a Combat Engineer, attached to the 31st Engineer Battalion, and served in Vietnam and Cambodia, earning Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals. Upon his return to the area, he became active in the Nesquehoning V.F.W., where he served in various positions including Commander. He was active with the Lansford American Legion and the Carbon County Vietnam Veterans. He was also a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Nesquehoning.
Coal is in the Gieniec family blood. Stanley followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and father as a lifelong coal miner, beginning with Bethlehem Mines and retiring from Lehigh Anthracite after 45 years. Joining him in the profession were various family members including his son. Concurrently, he was employed by Cerimele Catering for many years. Being an excellent chef he was right at home in the kitchen and was often recruited as "head chef" in the motor homes we took to Penn State football games. PSU, Phillies, hunting and picking mushrooms with friends and family were his interests. He will be remembered for his charismatic personality, one of a kind! A natural jokester and was a good friend to many.
