Helen Homcha Obituary

Helen Homcha, 93, of Nesquehoning, entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, January 23rd in her home surrounded by the love of her entire family.  She was the wife of the late Frank Homcha, who passed away in 2013.  Born in Nesquehoning in June of 1927, she was the daughter of the late John Sr. and Anna (Yacapsin) Kovatch.

Helen will forever be remembered for her positive outlook on life and the loving care she provided to everyone she came in contact with.  Her greatest happiness was being with her husband, children, and in more recent times, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a  person who would always find something positive to appreciate even in the most difficult situations.

She was an extraordinary nurse who completed undergraduate studies at Woman’s Hospital of Philadelphia and her graduate studies at Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey.  As a Registered Nurse, she worked at the former Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital in Lehighton PA and subsequently, for more than 40 years, in the medical office of Dr. John Evans of Nesquehoning, serving the medical needs of people throughout Carbon and Schuylkill Counties.  She was always available to anyone with a medical question or concern even at home after the end of the work day.  She also volunteered with numerous area organizations.

Helen is survived by her daughters Susan and husband Dennis, Patricia and her husband Peter, son Steve and wife Marge, grandchildren Christine, Brent, Brittany, Richard , Michael and great grandchildren Morgan, Linus, Rory, Patrick, Caroline and Adelyn, and sisters Ann and Agnes.  She was preceded in death by sisters Margaret and Mary and brothers John Jr. and Joseph.

Private arrangements at the convenience of the family have been entrusted to the Bruce A.
