Lenwood Hinkle Obituary

Lenwood L. “Lenny or Skip” Hinkle, 76, of Nesquehoning went home to be with his lord and savior on Thursday, June 3, 2021.  He was the loving husband of Peggy (Nothstein) Hinkle and they would have been married for 56 years in July.   Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Harold and Alice (Drasher) of Freeland.  Lenny had an extremely deep love for his family.  He loved being with them.

He was a member of Meed’s Memorial United Methodist Church for 51 years and was an active and supportive member.  He had worked for the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 33-1/2 years in their fire dept.  He loved the Philadelphia Phillies since he was a young boy, so he got to see them win two World Series!  He also loved Penn State, and when his granddaughter Chantel went to Penn State it made it even more special for him.  His hobbies were target shooting and pool. His shooting classification was “expert” and he won many competitions over the years and he belonged to several leagues including the Police Academy in Allentown. He also reloaded all his own ammunition.  His other favorite hobby was shooting pool.  He really loved pool and he put a lot of effort into playing and practicing it.  Last month the captain of his pool league team called to tell him that the team had unanimously voted to rename the team “Hinkle’s Heroes”.  What an honor!  His captain said that Lenny had helped and taught a lot of the younger guys and the rest of the team various techniques.

Lenny is survived by his loving wife Peggy, his daughter Lynn Rokosz and husband Mike of Nanticoke, granddaughters Chantel Sawchak and husband Andrew of Nanticoke and Lexi Rokosz of Nanticoke, grandson Mikey Rokosz of Nanticoke, great granddaughters Elise and Ava Sawchak, sisters Linda Zemany and husband John of Lansdale and Janis Feist of Freeland, nieces Robin Heyner and husband John of Round Hill VA and Jacki Slick and husband Jim of White Haven PA, and nephew John Zemany and wife Eleanor of North Wales PA.  He was predeceased by a son Sean Hinkle.

Services for Lenny will be held on Saturday, June 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Meed’s Memorial United Methodist Church, 126 West Catawissa St., Nesquehoning PA 18240 with the Rev. John Mylecrains officiating .  Interment will be held at Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown PA.  A calling time will be held in the church prior to the service from 10:30-11:00 a.m.  Contributions may be made to Meed’s Memorial U.M.C. , c/o the Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.nalesnikfh.com.  Arrangements and services are being provided by the Bruce A.
