Margaret M (Evans) Matalone

Margaret M. Matalone, 84, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 9th at St. Luke’s Miner’s Memorial Hospital in Coaldale.  She was the wife of Michael F. Matalone and they had been married for 65 years.  Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Dowling) Evans.  She worked for many years as a sewer in various garment factories in Nesquehoning, and was a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley Roman Catholic Church in Summit Hill and was a former member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in the New Columbus section of Nesquehoning.  Margaret enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her granddaughter, whom she adored.  She will be dearly missed.

Surviving in addition to her husband Michael is a daughter Michele McHugh and companion Gary Sagan of Nesquehoning, brothers James Evans of Nesquehoning and Joseph Evans and wife Karen of Summit Hill, a granddaughter Sarah McHugh and companion Christopher Fallabell of Jim Thorpe and nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by a son Joseph M. Matalone and a twin sister Theresa Michalac.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12th at 11:00 a.m. from the Bruce A. Nalesnik Funeral Home, 57 West Center St., Nesquehoning PA  18240, with the Rev. Robert George officiating.  Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Nesquehoning.  Calling hours will held on Wednesday morning from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home.  Contributions may be made to the Carbon County Animal Shelter c/o the Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.nalesnikfh.com.  Services and arrangements have been placed in the care of the Bruce A.
